LOWNDES COUNTY AMERICA 250 CELEBRATION

On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System (CLPLS), Mississippi University for Women (MUW), and the Mississippi School for Math and Science (MSMS) are partnering on the Lowndes County America 250 Celebration as a way to join the nation in celebrating and reflecting on this historic milestone. This is a significant moment in our nation's history, and we are proud to be part of the commemoration. Therefore, throughout 2026, the Lowndes County America 250 Celebration is hosting a multitude of speakers and programs for all ages as a way to educate, inspire, and engage the community in honoring this important event.
